The Big Move

I have been MIA for a while - I just moved to a new home and still unsettled with everything still in boxes. I am trying to sort things out to get myself organized once again, but after living in my last home for over 25 years, it is amazing how much stuff we accumulate. Even while purging when packing, I am so overwhelmed with the boxes that remain to be unpacked. And the worst part of all this, the movers did not place the boxes were they belong. I had each box labeled bedroom, living room, bathroom, etc., and did the labeled boxes get in the right place? No..... which means all of my craft supplies (yarn, hooks, needles, etc) are all scattered everywhere. Lots of work ahead in organizing, so it may be a while before I post new patterns. I am so anxious to crochet again, but alas, I cannot until I get myself settled. Hollywood and Zeus had a few days of exploring the new place, each one claiming a special spot. So with that said, I will try to get back on track as quickly as possible.

Moving is unsettling, but it also can create new ideas when you do settle in. Hopefully, those box elves will move in and get to work soon.

I can't thank you enough for your generous Hello Kitty patterns. I have been playing with them for some young relatives and they have been a HUGE hit. I just ordered some noses online to avoid having to sew them. I had no idea you could get yellow noses.

Unsettling is putting it mildly. It is extremely stressful and overwhelming, but you are right, as soon as everything is organized it will all be good,a fresh start. I am so happy you are enjoying the patterns. I will get some new ones posted as soon as I get organized and locate my crochet stuff. For the eyes and noses, I purchase mine from http://www.crscrafts.com/ - they have huge selection of sizes and colors, and very reasonable.

I do not envy you! We will take home a container and throw out a LOT of things next week, I'm not looking forward to it, or... in some way I do...

We seem to collect and hold onto "stuff" - I will still get rid of a lot of things.

I've moved twice in my life and hope I never have to again! It's so much work and it seems like it takes years to get everything unpacked... in fact, I still have unpacked boxes in my garage from when I was married five years ago... Wishing you strength to get all that you need to do done, and a happy and peaceful new home!

Moving has to be the dreaded curse. This is a good lesson for me, keep things light and try not to accumulate so much stuff! (I don't want to use the word hoard, lol).

I know *exactly* what you mean about removalists.
Ours did the same thing when we moved two years ago, and I'm still looking for a couple of boxes in particular.

The purging goes on when you unpack, doesn't it?
I've thrown out so much junk that we brought with us that it's hard to believe!

Hola from Spain,
I bumped into your blog by chance while searching for amigurumis...You are fantastic Armina (by the way you have such a wonderful an original name!)...I'm a beginner in crochet (I've been saying this during the last year but I'm really improving) Right now I'm taking care of my parents (Mom 88 with Dementia and Dad 76 with parkinson's) it is painful many times but at the same time there are many many precious moments, I'm giving them the best of times....This situation has kept me away from my normal life in Barcelona. Now living in Northen Spain in a veeeeery small village quite near the sea....I needed to do something creative and satisfying. Crochet was the word...but I only knew about chains and single and double stitches... Having internet acccess opened my world to amazing sites and here I am...I have even started a couple of blogs. One of daily life and another one for crocheting....I've been crocheting quite a lot during the last year, I've learned so much. Normally people here think of doilies and blankets when you say crochet...(I mean this small village) but as I started to crochet amigurumis, toys, brooches, earings, teddy bears etc...friends are quite amazed...Oh this is getting too long...
Anyway...I love your blog, absolutely inspiring...and I hope that by now you are done with the worst part of your move... Take it as a new step to a fantastic new life.It is a blessing. Thanks for your blog. Thanks for sharing your creativity to the world.
Hugs from Spain
Ana

Jane, I am purging as I unpack. We tend to hoard during packing, finding it difficult to get rid of things. But after seeing everything as I unpack, that decision was easy. Get rid of some things, it is only "stuff".

Ana, thank you so much. I feel good when my readers contact me and are inspired to crochet, not only from my blog, to continue this wonderful craft. Keep up the great work, it is so worthwhile.

Hi Armina,
I know how you feel. Moving is stressful, (to me it is) and I have been moving for more than 20 times in a span of 7 years. I hope you will soon be back in your amigurumi. (is therapeutic) love and hugs and kisses.

It is stressful and exhausting - I am so scattered I cannot get myself motivated to get anything (crafts) done. Lots of things still in boxes, plus I got clobbered with the flu, so that just knocked me flat out.... sigh. Will be back soon, I hope.
