Large Hello Kitty Doll


I had several requests for a larger version of my Hello Kitty Amigurumi. I finally worked the pattern and adjusted it for a doll that measures 8". Here is the pattern.... Enjoy!

Materials:
Lion Brand Pound of Love - White
Caron Simply Soft – Soft Pink
Size US-F/3.75mm Crochet Hook
Pink & Black embroidery floss
Polyester Fiberfill
2 - 15mm Black Safety Eyes
Blunt darning needle

Pattern Notes:
1. Worked in continuous rounds; do not join and do not turn. Use stitch marker to indicate beginning of rounds.
2. Yarns listed is what I used – Size may vary with other yarns.

Abbreviations:
SC = Single Crochet
Ch = Chain
Rnd(s) = Round(s)
Beg = Beginning
SL ST = Slip Stitch
Sts = Stitches
2tog = Crochet 2 stitches together (decrease)
* = Repeat stitches from * to end of *
HDC = Half Double Crochet

Head:
Ch 2
Rnd 1: Work 5 sc in second ch from hook = 5 sc
Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in each sc = 10 sc
Rnd 3: *Sc in first sc, 2 sc in second sc*, repeat from * around = 15 sc
Rnd 4: *Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat from * around = 20 sc
Rnd 5: *Sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat from * around = 25 sc
Rnd 6: *Sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat from * around = 30 sc
Rnd 7: *Sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat from * around = 35 sc
Rnd 8: *Sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat from * around = 40 sc
Rnd 9: *Sc in next 7 sc, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat from * around = 45 sc
Rnd 10: *Sc in next 8 sc, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat from * around = 50 sc
Rnds 11-18 – Sc around
Rnd 19: *Sc in next 8 sc, sc 2tog*, repeat from * around = 45 sc
Rnd 20: *Sc in next 7 sc, sc 2tog*, repeat from * around = 40 sc
Rnd 21: *Sc in next 6 sc, sc 2tog*, repeat from * around = 35 sc
Rnd 22: *Sc in next 5 sc, sc 2tog*, repeat from * around = 30 sc
Rnd 23: *Sc in next 4 sc, sc 2tog*, repeat from * around = 25 sc
Rnd 24: *Sc in next 3 sc, sc 2tog*, repeat from * around = 20 sc
Rnd 25: *Sc in next 2 sc, sc 2tog*, repeat from * around = 15 sc
Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing. Position and insert Safety Eyes; stuff head firmly.

Ears: (Make 2)Ch 2
Rnd 1: Work 5 sc in second ch from hook = 5 sc
Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in ea sc around = 10 sc
Rnd 3: *Sc in first sc, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat from * around = 15 sc
Rnd 4: *Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat from * around = 20 sc
Rnd 5-7: Sc aroundFasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Do not stuff. Fold in half.

Position ears – sew ears one on each side. Weave in ends.

Body:
Ch 2
Rnd 1: Work 5 sc in second ch from hook = 5 sc
Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in each sc = 10 sc
Rnd 3: *Sc in first sc, 2 sc in second sc*, repeat from * around = 15 sc
Rnd 4: *Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat from * around = 20 sc
Rnd 5: *Sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat from * around = 25 sc
Rnd 6: *Sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat from * around = 30 sc
Rnd 7: *Sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat from * around = 35 sc
Rnd 8: *Sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat from * around = 40 sc
Rnds 9-16: Sc in each sc around
Rnd 17: *Sc in next 6 sc, sc 2tog*, repeat from * around = 35 sc
Rnd 18: *Sc in next 5 sc, sc 2tog*, repeat from * around = 30 sc
Rnd 19: *Sc in next 4 sc, sc 2tog*, repeat from * around = 25 sc
Rnd 20: *Sc in next 3 sc, sc 2tog*, repeat from * around = 20 sc
Rnd 21: *Sc in next 2 sc, sc 2tog*, repeat from * around = 15 sc
Fasten off – stuff body. Sew opening closed. Weave in yarn. Shape bottom base so body can stand.

Gown:
With Pink Yarn -
Rnd 1: Insert crochet hook in top of body – pull yarn through with to form a loop.



Rnd 2: Sc around by inserting crochet hook in sc directly on body – you will have approximately 10 sc around.
Rnd 3: Work 2 sc in ea sc around = 20 sc



Rnd 4: *Sc in first sc, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat around – 30 sc



Rnd 5-6: Sc around


Rnd 7: *Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat from * around – 45 sc



Rnd 8-15: At this point, you will work HDC in ea sc around for approximately 8 Rnds or until gown reaches bottom of body.
Fasten off, weave in ends.

NOTE: The stitches for the gown are approximate. If your count is less or more, don’t worry. Continue crocheting until gown reaches bottom of body.

Arms: (Make 2):
Ch 2
Rnd 1: Work 5 sc in second ch from hook = 5 sc
Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in ea sc around = 10 sc
Rnd 3: *Sc in first sc, 2 sc in second sc*, repeat from * around = 15 sc
Rnd 4-13: Sc aroundFasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Stuff arms lightly.

Legs: (make 2)
Ch 2
Rnd 1: Work 5 sc in second ch from hook = 5 sc
Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in ea sc around = 10 sc
Rnd 3: *Sc in first sc, 2 sc in second sc*, repeat from * around = 15 sc
Rnd 4-7: Sc around
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Stuff legs lightly.

Bow:
Rnd 1: Ch 15
Rnd 2: Sc in second ch from hook, ch 1, turn.
Rnd 3-9: Sc across, ch 1, turn.
Fasten off, leave long tail for sewing.



To Form Bow:1. Weave in short piece of yarn (where ch was started) to center;2. Weave in long tail to center;


3. Pinch center and wrap long tail around 5 times;
4. Thread through blunt needle and secure by running under the wrapped part, bringing it out; secure firmly.
(NOTE: You can make 1 bow for one ear, or you can make 2 bows, one for each ear).


To Assemble:
1. Attach head to body.
2. Attach arms, just below head.
3. Attach legs.
4. Using black embroidery floss; sew whiskers.
5. sing pink embroidery floss, sew nose.
Doll measures 8” tall.
