HK Ladybug

My newest HK Ami arrives just in time to celebrate Valentines Day with you. She is the Amigurumi HK Ladybug. She stands about 5" tall.
The pattern is available below:

Materials:
Size US-F/3.75mm Crochet Hook
Lion Brand Pound of Love - White
Red Heart Super Saver - Black
Red Heart Super Saver - Red
Black Pipe Cleaner
6mm Black Safety Eyes
Pink Embroidery Floss
Blunt Needle
Polyester Fiberfill

Pattern Notes:
Worked in continuous rounds; do not join and do not turn. Use stitch marker to indicate beginning of rounds.
Yarns listed is what I used – Size may vary with other yarns.

Abbreviations:
SC = Single Crochet
Ch = Chain
Rnd(s) = Round(s)
Beg = Beginning
SL ST = Slip Stitch
Sts = Stitches
2tog = Crochet 2 stitches together (decrease)
* = Repeat stitches from * to end of *
YO = Yarn Over

Head:
Ch 2
Rnd 1: Work 5 sc in second ch from hook = 5 sc
Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in each sc = 10 sc
Rnd 3: *Sc in first sc, 2 sc in second sc*, repeat from * around = 15 sc
Rnd 4: *Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat from * around = 20 sc
Rnd 5: *Sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat from * around = 25 sc
Rnd 6: *Sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat from * around = 30 sc
Rnds 7-12: Sc in each sc around
Rnd 13: *Sc in next 4 sc, sc 2tog*, repeat from * around = 25 sc
Rnd 14: *Sc in next 3 sc, sc 2tog*, repeat from * around = 20 sc
Rnd 15: *Sc in next 2 sc, sc 2tog*, repeat from * around = 15 sc
Fasten off, leaving a long tail; position and insert safety eyes; stuff firmly. Sew opening closed (you will use the remaining yarn to sew the head on to the body – do not trim).

Body:
With Red Yarn, Ch 2
Rnd 1: Work 5 sc in second ch from hook = 5 sc
Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in each sc around = 10 sc
Rnd 3: *Sc in first sc, 2 sc in second sc*, repeat from * around = 15 sc
Rnd 4: *Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat from * around = 20 sc
Rnd 5: *Sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc*, repeat from * around = 25 sc
Rnds 6-10: Sc in each sc around
Rnd 11: *Sc in next 3 sc, sc 2tog*, repeat from * around = 20 sc
Rnd 12: *Sc in next 2 sc, sc 2tog*, repeat from * around = 15 sc
Rnd 13: *Sc in next sc, sc 2tog*, repeat from * around = 10 sc
Fasten off leave long tail for sewing; stuff firmly. Sew opening closed. Weave in yarn.

Arms: (Make 2)
With Red Yarn, Ch 2
Rnd 1: Work 6 sc in second ch from hook = 6 sc
Rnd 2-5: Sc around
Fasten off, leave long tail for sewing. Stuff arms lightly. (You will use remaining yarn to sew arms to body – do not trim).

Legs: (make 2)
With Red Yarn, Ch 2
Rnd 1: Work 6 sc in second ch from hook = 6 sc
Rnd 2-3: Sc around
Fasten off, leave long tail for sewing. Do not stuff.
Ears: (Make 2)
Ch 2
Rnd 1: Work 5 sc in second ch from hook = 5 sc
Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in each sc = 10 sc
Rnd 3: Sc around = 10 sc
Fasten off, leave a long tail. Do not stuff. Fold in half.

Bow:
Rnd 1: Ch 6
Rnd 2: Sc in second ch from hook, ch 1, turn.
Rnd 3-6: Sc across, ch 1, turn.
Fasten off, leave long tail.

To Form Bow:
1. Beginning of bow (Fig 1)
1. Weave in short piece of yarn (where ch was started) to center (Fig 2 & Fig 2A)
2. Weave in long tail to center (Fig 3)
3. Pinch center and wrap long tail around 5 times. Weave in short piece of yarn. (Fig 4)
4. Thread through blunt needle and secure by running under the wrapped part; secure firmly. Attach the bow to side of head.

Wings: (make 2)
With Red Yarn, ch 2
Rnd 1: Work 4 sc in sec ch from hook, ch 1, turn = 4 sc
Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in ea sc across, ch 1, turn = 8 sc
Rnd 3 : Sc across, ch 1 turn
To Make Border for Wings:
Rnd 4: *YO hook, insert hook into first sc, pull yarn through (3 loops on hook),
YO, insert hook into same sc, pull yarn through (5 loops on hook),
YO, insert hook into same sc, pull yarn through (you will now have 7 loops on your hook),
now pull the yarn through all 7 loops, sc to secure loops, ch 1*, repeat from * across
Fasten off, leave a long tail for sewing.

Wings complete

To Assemble:
1. Attach head.
2. Place each wing half on back, placing edge close together. Stitch edge to seal, stitching through the body.
3. Attach arms.
4. Attach legs.
5. Attach bow.
6. For the Antennae, cut 2 pieces of black pipe cleaner 1” long – press into head. I used a dab of Aleen’s Tacky glue to keep the antennae in place.
7. With black yarn, stitch random spots on body.
8. With black yarn, stitch outline on wings and random stitches on wings.
9. Tie a small bow around neck with black ribbon.
10. Weave in and trim all excess yarn.

Your Amigurumi HK Lady Bug is done!
